Frequently asked questions

Can you enlarge an image without losing quality?
Not entirely. Enlarging invents pixels that were never captured, so some softness is unavoidable. Sharpening is applied afterwards to keep edges as crisp as possible, but starting from the highest-resolution original you have will always give a better result.
How much can I enlarge an image?
Up to 4×. Beyond roughly 2× the softness becomes noticeable on detailed photographs, though flat graphics and logos hold up better.
Why is my enlarged image blurry?
The original resolution was likely low to begin with. Enlarging cannot recover detail that was never there — it can only estimate what falls between existing pixels.
